Colourful but dangerous

Doctors at Mumbai's Sion hospital say dozens of patients arrived at the casualty ward急診室 complaining of giddiness眼花, 暈眩, vomiting嘔吐 and headaches. The vast廣闊 majority多數 were children from one of Mumbai's largest slums貧民窟, Dharavi. Most are in a stable condition. It's believed they developed a reaction to coloured powders粉末 they were throwing.
Across the country, millions of people from all walks of life各種不同的背景 smear塗抹 and cover themselves from head to toe從頭到腳 in bright paints and powders as is custom for Holi. But there has been concern for some time that some of the artificially人工-produced dyes染料, which are cheap to buy, contain包含 harmful有害 toxic有毒的 chemicals which can lead to serious skin and breathing problems.
There has been a push in recent years to encourage more revellers狂歡 to use organic and environmentally-friendly dyes to avoid避免 health risks.
